Resettlement
One of Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) Canada’s primary objectives is to facilitate and assist in the safe relocation of vulnerable populations resettle to Canada who were displaced due to civil conflict, unrest, and instability in their countries of origin.
FOCUS Canada collaborates with various stakeholders, including governments, international agencies, and local communities, to ensure the successful integration of resettled individuals.
Resettlement programmes have been created for newly arrived communities to reestablish themselves and their families with dignity, largely through FOCUS’ widespread volunteer network in the community.
Under an agreement with the Government of Canada [through the Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) program], FOCUS resettled over 10,000 refugees in Canada, in the last 30 years of its’ existence. Our work entails the provision of dedicated one-to-one assistance to families and individuals, helping them find suitable accommodations, learn the national language, achieve economic stability, and promote social cohesion.
In recent years, FOCUS has expanded in the areas of migration, assisting displaced families, and providing programs and services to protect vulnerable families in transit countries to help them in their journey to rebuild their lives here in Canada. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term challenges, FOCUS Canada helps displaced persons rebuild their lives with dignity and hope, contributing to the overall resilience and diversity of Canadian society.
